CoMMUNITIES OF RESILIENCE

Proposals are currently being accepted for presentation for the 2016 Resilience Conference: Resilience and Social Connectedness, to be held in Cape Town, South Africa on July 25 and 26th 2016. This forum is being sponsored by The Graduate School at Rutgers University-Newark and the Community Chest of the Western Cape.

The objective of this two-day forum is to explore strategies that communities might incorporate as they adjust and respond to short and long-term adversity. Such adversity might include environmental hazards, natural disasters, and social or economic disrupting stress.

Presentations should be of interest to practitioners and academics engaged in the areas of economic and social development, crisis and disaster response, and institution building in relation to enhancing community resilience. Conference organizers are interested in case studies of specific instances where communities have had to bounce back from a major adversity or set of adversities.

Proposals for presentations should be one page (single or double-spaced) and submitted via email to gsnsch26@newark.rutgers.edu. On the top of each submission should be the presentation title, synopsis, and contact information. The deadline for submission is March 31, 2016. Teams submitting proposals will be notified of the status of their presentations in April 2016.
